Alcohol Withdraws!

I have never experienced then until now. I have been drinking for years but all of the sudden after I have a few glasses of wine I wake up with extreme anxiety. The worse part if facing people knowing that I feel and look anxious.

  • @urseeg hello and thanks for reaching out. not sure if that can cause such anxiety or not... have you always drank wine or is that something new? of course, over time the consumption of alcohol can cause changes to the body....

if the anxiety continues, perhaps consult with a doctor... in case it's something else going on...

are you wanting to quit drinking entirely?
  • I did experiment with cocaine and ecstasy when I was younger. I think that has affected my mental state a lot. I haven't done any of it for about 10 years now. I have gone to a doctor a few years ago and was prescribed antidepressants. They definitely don't work for me. If anything they make me worse. I'm at the point when I do not trust doctors anymore.
  • @urseeg i understand... not everyone is on board with doctors..

how about an alternative approach? something like meditation, mindfulness? yoga? something to help the nervous system to relax in a natural way? easier said than done, i know :)

how did your day go today?
  • @urseeg... I'm wondering if your anxiety might be a result of not getting a good night's sleep. Alcohol can make falling asleep easier, but it's been proven that it also messes with your sleep cycle big time. Maybe try not drinking so close to bedtime and see how that goes? Just a thought.

And as far as the antidepressants... There are a lot of different ones our there. If one doesn't work for you, you should try something else. I think I tried 3 or 4 medications before I found one that worked for me, and it's made a huge difference in my life.

We're here for you, my friend.
