Porn Porn Porn

Hello,

I'm new to this.

I want to quit porn. Due to the addiction my body couldn't function with my wife and she left me (as a virgin). My brain got used to porn to the point what's real isn't acceptable.

I want to love again and be a father.

I am addicted to porn for 15 years now and it's time to stop

  • Welcome to the community, @BlueBeard. I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling with a porn addiction, but I'm glad you reached out.

I don't have any experience with what you're going through, but I know @JoshuaShea will probably weigh in with some words of wisdom for you.

Please know that we are here to help, support, and listen. So reach out anytime you need to.
  • @BlueBeard I'm sorry I've taken so long to respond. I've been down with pneumonia much of the last two weeks.
I would urge you to find a local meeting of Sex Addict Anonymous as a place to start. You don't talk too much about the specifics of what your issues are, and you'll meet all kind of guys there, even if it isn't ultimately the answer.
I hope you'll find yourself a decent therapist, too. That's the start of really overcoming this. You need to know why you threw everything away for porn and even if you're under the impression you understand why, it's very important that you talk to a professional.
There are other things you can do as well, like your own research, more boards like this, inpatient rehab, etc. I'd urge you to check out the resources page on my website at http://www.recoveringpornaddict.com and I'm sure you'll find a few points of entry to begin. Good luck and know we're always here.
  • @BlueBeard Hello and welcome. I'm super glad that you want to address this issue in your life. I think Joshua has given you some advice to get started. Throw yourself into recovery and learning about addiction and Recovery. Reach out for support doing things like coming here or attending a support group and I definitely suggest getting a therapist. I think counseling is so valuable when you're trying to address any issue in life.

It's going to take some hard work, but that hard work will be worth it. And remember it's about progress and not perfection. Recovery is a zig zaging line with some ups and downs, but just know that we will always be here to support you and cheer you on.
  • Thanks for your insight on this subject, @JoshuaShea. I'm so sorry to hear you had pneumonia! Ugh! I hope you're feeling 100% ASAP! Sending tons of healing vibes your way!
  • @dominica @DeanD Thanks! Apparently pneumonia is a much bigger deal as an adult than a kid, so I'm trying to take it slow despite that not being in my manic nature!
  • Hope you're feeling a little better each and every day, @JoshuaShea!
