A Strategy to Stop Self Harm
A therapist taught me this recently and I found it very useful. If you cut or burn yourself and are feeling the urge to self harm, take a marker and write on the area you'd like to harm "Don't Hurt Me!" Every time you think of hurting yourself, you will look and see that reminder that your skin doesn't want to be hurt. I've had it written on my wrist in marker for 4 days now and it really does help! I've found it much more effective than trying to draw cuts in red marker where I'd like to cut, or any other suggestions I'd been given previously.-
