What do you guys think about getting massages to relieve anxiety?

I've been having more and more anxiety and panic attacks lately, been considering having an off day and getting a massage to complement the medication and other relaxation techniques that I usually use to counter the anxiety. What do you guys think of having a regular massage to help with your mood?

  • I think it's an excellent idea personally. Whatever takes your mind off your anxiety outside of alcohol and drugs is a good thing in my opinion. I think getting massages can be very therapeutic. Give it a shot, and see how it works. I can't see it being a negative. It's either going to keep it the same or decrease your anxiety. Either way, you've got nothing to lose!
  • I think it does work and at least it is worth a shot. I often find myself feeling stressed without noticing it and when I get to relax I figure out that most of it is coming from feeling tired physically, so I imagine getting massages would help with this as when you are feeling relaxed you are less likely to turn to other less favorable methods to calm yourself down.

  • When I get anxious my whole body tends to stiffen and go tense, but while you're getting the massage and a few hours after it, it certainly works like a charm. It relaxes you're whole body and it does good to your mind. The relaxation might not last for long but at least it helps for a bit, you know. The effects may be different for everyone but in general, it does change your mood (and for the better).
  • I believe it's an awesome idea! At least for a while you will be in peace and relaxed, so that's good. I never went to a massage but sometimes I ask my brother to do me one and that really feels good, so I imagine one made by a professional is even better. Go for it, at least you can try and check if it helps with with your anxiety. Good luck!
