How do I know which addiction treatment option is best for me?

There is no "one-size-fits-all" treatment for addiction. What works for one person may be totally ineffective for another, and it may take some trial and error before you find a strategy and lifestyle of recovery that works best for you.

There are a myriad of treatment options and support programs available, including inpatient residential treatment (rehab), intensive outpatient programs (IOP), individual therapy, group therapy, 12-step meetings, 12-step alternative meetings, and many more. Many people incorporate a combination of different approaches.

Deciding which treatment option to start with can be as unscientific as simply going with what your gut tells you. Or, you can enlist the help of an addiction specialist or counselor who can assess your specific situation and make a recommendation for the best course of treatment.

No matter which addiction treatment option(s) you use, just remember that the option that works for you is the right one.
