Seeking resources to help choose inpatient facility

Hey all. My daughter is finally open to getting treatment. We are lucky enough to have insurance. I'm trying to help her put together a short list of place to call.
The search on the insurance website is pretty terrible but we can get a state by state listing with about 10 results for each state.

The problem is that within the results - every place looks pretty depressing and they all seem to say the same generic things.

Is there a place that I can get unbiased reviews and ratings on multiple facilities?

Ideally one where I can search a specific place as well as maybe "top in the state/region" to cross reference with the list the insurance search gives us.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  • @sadmom that's great your daughter is going to treatment! i do believe that this site (recovery.org) has an 800 number you can call on the main page...and they may be able to help you in your state. not sure though..but take a look.

maybe someone else has some advice on this?

  • @sadmom... I'm happy to hear that your daughter is ready to go to treatment. That's a huge step for her. This article might help you sort through things:

You may also find the treatment locator on the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's website helpful:

You can also find websites that rate and review treatment facilities--try doing a search for "best drug rehabs"--but just be aware: any reviews and rankings you read are going to be pretty subjective. One person's experience at a treatment facility isn't necessarily going to be the same as another person's. So always take the information with a grain of salt.

I hope this helps. Remember, we're here for you.

I will keep good thoughts for you and your daughter. I've been where you are and I know how tough it can be. Remember to take good care of yourself while you work to help your daughter.
